Electronic Visit Verification
The 21st Century Cures Act (Section 12006(a)) mandates that states should implement Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) for all Medicaid personal care services (PCS) and home health services (HHS) that require a visit by a provider. The Electronic Visit Verification requirement for all Medicaid funded personal care services goes into effect by January 1, 2020 and the home health care services mandate goes into effect on January 1, 2023.
Most states allow healthcare providers to choose their own Electronic Visit Verification system, however providers must have records available for review upon request.
