Time tracking and workforce management apps have become indispensable business tools for companies with remote teams and those that provide field services. They not only ease operations but also help guarantee that employees stay productive.

Among the many options available in the market today, Jibble stands out as a reliable solution for time tracking, team management, and productivity analysis. In this Jibble review, we will cover our experience testing the app.

We will discuss the app’s features along with its pros and cons to help you decide whether it is the right app for you. We’ll also examine a noteworthy alternative to Jibble — Timeero — to help you make an informed decision.

Note:  We recognize that this article was written in April 2024 and changes may have been made within the Jibble app since this article was published.

What is Jibble?

Jibble is a cloud-based solution for tracking time and managing attendance that helps companies and organizations maximize their employees' time. It ensures that employers are only charged for time their employees actually spent working.

The time tracking software allows employees to log their billable hours easily, improving how companies monitor their workers. It uses modern technologies like facial recognition and geolocation to record employee clock-ins and outs accurately.

This eliminates the need for traditional time clocks and manual timesheets, which not only saves time but also reduces the likelihood of errors in payroll processing.

How Does the Jibble App Work? Features Walkthrough

For this Jibble review, we signed up for the Jibble free trial and tested its key features.

Let’s take a closer look at these features and what we found.

Time Tracking

Jibble's time tracking feature provides a seamless solution for monitoring and recording employee work hours. Employees can easily log the time they spent on tasks or projects using the clock in and out interface.

If the employee wants to take a break, they can click ‘Start Break,’ and the break will be recorded in their time log. Managers have access to real-time data, allowing them to monitor employee productivity, track attendance, and effortlessly generate accurate timesheets.

jibble time tracking policy
Jibble’s time tracking policy options.

The time tracker feature supports policy customization, where admins can choose how much control they want over time tracking. Managers can choose from three policy options: flexible, moderate, or strict. For instance, admins can restrict team members from clocking in through certain devices by disabling them in the settings.

The app sends out notifications to your employees reminding them to clock in and out. Jibble also has an automatic clock-out option, which can be set to a specific time or after a certain number of hours. Managers can also add locations for employees to clock in and out from.

jibble locations feature
The Locations feature on Jibble.

We were able to clock in and out of the Jibble app without a hitch. We found its ease of use commendable, as there were no lags or delays. We didn’t have to click on any buttons twice to get a response.

However, the sync functionality was not very efficient. When we made settings changes in the Admin web account, such as clock-in restrictions, they were not  immediately reflected on the employee app. We had to sign out and sign back in for the changes to apply.

GPS Tracking

Do you need to monitor your employee’s whereabouts when they’re clocked in? Jibble has a feature for that. The app’s GPS tracking functionality offers an added layer of accountability and security for businesses with remote or mobile workforces.

The software uses geolocation technology to verify workers' positions at the time of clock-in and clock-out, guaranteeing that work hours are recorded from approved locations. The timesheets page on the website and mobile app will then display the reported GPS data.

The software also has a live location dashboard that shows each employee’s location in real-time. We found it very accurate during testing, so you can rest easy knowing that you’re seeing the actual positions of your workers at any time.

For time entries with a recorded location, an icon representing the location will be shown. By clicking on the time entry information, you can see the precise location on a map showing where your employee was when the entry was made. Thanks to this feature, employers can rest easy knowing that their staff members are where they should be during set working hours.

You’ll also see the route they followed while they were on the clock. However, this was not very precise, as the record did not show the exact route we took. It only connected our stopping points together with straight lines rather than indicating the path we followed.

GPS tracking reduces the possibility of fraudulent activities like employee time theft or timesheet inconsistencies by improving transparency and accuracy in time tracking.

Be aware that this feature is only available in the Ultimate pricing plan. Since we were on the basic plan free trial, we had to upgrade to Ultimate to check it out.

Scheduling

If you're running a business that involves multiple team members, scheduling is fundamental to keeping things organized. Jibble allows you to create multiple work schedules and add members to them.

You can choose to create a fixed, flexible, or weekly schedule. Notifications of assigned shifts are sent to employees, which minimizes scheduling issues. Additionally, the scheduling functionality easily works together with Jibble’s time tracking features, allowing workers to clock in directly from their assigned shifts.

By default, team members can freely track their break time. But, to  have more control over the length and scheduling of breaks, you can create customized break rules. Jibble also allows you to choose from several overtime rules, including daily, weekly, public holiday, and rest day overtime.

Attendance Tracking and Time-Off Management

Jibble's attendance tracker simplifies the process of monitoring employee attendance and managing shifts. Employers can customize the attendance settings to create their own parameters, including work schedules, overtime regulations, and absence policies.

Admins can create time off policies to ensure everyone is on the same page. This helpsnagers monitor workers' leave days to ensure there are no schedule conflicts.

To streamline leave management,  managers can also set up holiday calendars to calculate public holiday overtime. If employees are distributed worldwide, admins can create multiple calendars featuring holidays for each respective location.

We were able to effortlessly request time off using the app. Employees can do this for vacation, sick leave, or other personal reasons. Managers receive notifications of these requests, allowing them to review and approve them in a timely manner.

From a single, centralized dashboard, supervisors can check real-time attendance information, monitor employee timeliness, and create attendance reports. Jibble’s dashboard insights guarantee labor law compliance by providing all the necessary employee data.

Geofencing

Employers looking for an extra layer of control over time tracking and attendance management can take advantage of one of the best geofencing apps. Jibble’s geofencing feature uses GPS technology, allowing businesses to define virtual boundaries around specific locations.

Administrators can set up geofences corresponding to workplace locations or other designated areas where employees are expected to perform work. The geofencing function checks an employee's position against predefined boundaries when they use the Jibble app to clock in or out. Doing this ensures that time entries are only made when staff members are in the designated locations.

The functionality of this feature was  excellent on Jibble. We set up a work location and created a geofence around it. When we tried to clock in outside the geofence, it was not possible, and the app displayed the message “You are not inside an authorized location.”

Facial Recognition

By leveraging advanced facial recognition technology, Jibble enables businesses to verify employees' identities during clock-in and clock-out processes. This feature has to be enabled in settings to work.

Jibble Verification settings

Employees first need to add their images to the system, which they can do on their phones.

We gave it a shot ourselves, and it worked great. The app asks you to “Look up,” “Look down,” then “Look left,” and “Look right, and it uses that data to create a record of your face.

When using the app to log time, you are prompted to scan your face using the device's camera. This takes just a few seconds. The facial recognition system then compares the captured image with pre-registered facial templates to authenticate your identity. If it matches, you can clock in. This is a very effective way to prevent buddy punching.

If this feature is essential to the operations of your business, check out our article on the best face recognition attendance systems in 2024.

Reports

Administrators can generate a number of comprehensive reports with Jibble. Some of the most insightful reports include details on:

  • project allocation
  • employee attendance
  • hours worked
  • productivity metrics

The information found in these reports helps managers make informed decisions and identify inefficiencies that need to be addressed.

Jibble's reporting feature supports real-time updates, which accurately reflect the latest data. Real-time updates enable administrators to monitor workforce performance and policy compliance in action, allowing them to intervene if necessary.

When generating reports, you can filter information by hours tracked, groups, team members, or schedules. For tracked time reports, you can apply location, activities, projects, or client filters. The app also allows you to customize the date range for your report.

Unfortunately, we noticed that Jibble does not support direct report export to PDF. It only has XLS and CSV options. If you need your reports in PDF format, you’ll have to do it yourself.

Integrations

Jibble integrates with other leading software systems, allowing you to transfer data seamlessly across platforms. Integrations include project management tools, accounting software, and payroll systems.

The integration of Jibble with project management tools like Asana, Trello, Airtable, Microsoft Teams, Zendesk, and Slack facilitates smooth collaboration and job tracking. From these platforms, employees can quickly link their time entries to certain activities or projects.

jibble integrations
Some software options you can link to Jibble.

Integration with payroll and accounting software like Xero, Deel, Razorpay, Stripe, Wave, and QuickBooks Online makes automated data synchronization possible. It removes the need for human data entry and lowers the possibility of mistakes. Jibble users can easily export their time-tracking data for invoicing, financial reporting, and payroll processing.

Workflows are made easier by integrating with project management software like Zapier, Click Up, Todoist, and Jira. These are just some of the available integrations on Jibble that enable interoperability.

Timeero: A Reliable Jibble Alternative

While Jibble is a useful tool for tracking time,  the app lacks several key features that are offered by Timeero.  Keep in mind that Timeero has most, if not all of the features Jibble does, with these additional functionalities:

Mileage Tracking

Mileage tracking is an essential feature for teams that are often on the move and need to be reimbursed for mileage. Timeero’s motion-detection technology tracks mileage only when the car is in motion.   When the car stops or gets delayed in traffic, the app will not continue logging mileage which means your company saves on fuel and reimbursement costs.

Even better, Timeero’s mileage tracker works offline, meaning your employee mileage is still tracked even when they lose their internet connection. Additionally, the software has a suggested mileage tool that recommends the shortest and most efficient route.

Segmented Tracking

For employees who visit many sites in a day, Timeero offers a Segmented Tracking tool that makes it easy to monitor employee drive time.  All a worker needs to do is clock in once on the app at the beginning of their shift and clock out at the end of the day.

Whether employees are traveling between various job sites or client locations, Timeero automatically logs every part of their journey throughout the workday. Segmented Tracking records the route driven, the amount of time spent at each stop, and tasks completed at each location. These details are displayed in a single visual dashboard available to administrators.

Signatures Feature

With its Signatures functionality, Timeero encourages you to hold your employees accountable. Employee timesheets contain details of the total time spent at a job site and the distance that was traveled by an employee.  For verification purposes, timesheets can be digitally signed by the respective employee. The timesheet can also be signed by several clients to attest to the fact that your worker completed their work there.

California Breaks Tracker

Meal and rest break laws can be very strict in some areas, like California. Violating these laws can result in expensive fines. The California Breaks Tracker tool can assist you in maintaining compliance and also provide you with documentation if you get sued or face other legal action.

California Break Policy
Assigning users to the California Break Policy.

After enabling the California Breaks Policy function in the app, assign people who will be taking these breaks. Before Californian employees clock out, they will be asked via the Timeero app if they have taken their meal and rest breaks in accordance with the legislation and asked to document the reasons for any non-compliance.

You will be informed right away if an employee reports non-compliance so you can take appropriate action and stop the situation from getting worse. Read our guide on meal and rest break attestation in California to understand this better.
