Are users tracked while off the clock?

No. The Timeero app will only capture and store locations when you are clocked in or tracking mileage. On your mobile app, there will be a blue flashing icon (if you are on iOS), and a notification (if you are on Android), when your location is being used. If you have the automatic clock in/out turned on, the app will periodically check your location using geofence technology but those locations are never stored or recorded in the app or our servers.
Can GPS tracking be optional?

Yes. Administrators can configure their Timeero accounts to require GPS tracking to be on.
Does GPS tracking work without an internet connection?

Yes. GPS does not rely on an internet connection or your data plan. Since Timeero is built to work offline, the GPS location and time can be captured and stored on the device. It will only be available in the cloud after the user gets back online.
How accurate are GPS points?

GPS point accuracy is dependent on a number of factors such as the quality of the GPS chip in your phone, GPS satellite signal strength, weather conditions and others. The accuracy of a GPS signal can be compared to the quality of a phone call, there are many factors at play. In the Timeero app, we record the accuracy of each GPS point to give you an idea of how accurate the point is.
How often and what causes a GPS tracking point to be captured?

Timeero captures a new GPS point when a user travels more than 150 feet from their last location or every 5-30 minutes, depending on the user's phone's operating system.
What are the benefits of GPS tracking?

GPS tracking gives you a bird-eye view of where your employees are. You will have a better idea of who to assign jobs to based on proximity to jobs or customers. Tracking with GPS also helps employers monitor fraudulent employees that may leave the job site they are supposed to be. GPS tracking also provides safety benefits and helps hold team members more accountable.
When does Timeero start tracking GPS location?

GPS tracking starts when the user clocks in. Timeero does not capture and save any locations after an employee clocks out. If you have automatic geofence clock in/out or reminders turned on, then Timeero will check BUT NOT SAVE your locations. Geofencing uses satellite and cell-tower to determine if you are within a job site or not. If you do not want capability, you can simply turn off the automatic clock in and out setting inside your Timeero app. Contact our team if you are unsure of how to go about that.
